First Rodeo Show

This is my first official blog... so please take into consideration!!!!

In August I began my long journey of nursing school... yea I know what was I thinking!!!  After graduating from Purdue, I began to realize not only did I have a clear passion for helping people in my community but I was also very interested in the medical side of helping people.  Working at Riggs has really opened my eyes to how many people in this world truly need help medically as well as socially.  I applied to St. E school of Nursing and was accepted for August 2010.  I knew this journey that I was about to embark on was by no means going to be easy, and boy was I right!  Over this past semester I have pulled almost double the amount of "all-nighters" than I ever did in my time at Purdue.  I am already a very anxious person so this really threw me into overdrive... just ask Adriane!! I must say that I have learned so much these past 4 months not only medically but also what being a nurse truly means!  If it wasn't for my supportive family, friends, and proffesors I think I am may have gone crazy!  Last week was the finish of my first semester and I am proud to say that I finished with a 3.8!!  When they say hard work pays off, they are right.. it really does!  This week I have almost been lost without school , I know I should be thankful for my three weeks off, but when you go from constantly busy to having down time... its a HUGE change!

With break comes Christmas and the New Year which I am so looking forward too! Its crazy to think Christmas is only four days away.  As you get older time really does fly!  This year for Christmas I tried talking my parents into trading vacation for presents but there wasn't enough planning time.  Soooo, with that being said my Mom began hounding us for our lists as well as threatening to not let us eat until she had our list.  Making a list is just so much harder when you are older, especially if you have a job and are semi independent already!  As usual Adriane was the first to have her list finished, and I am sure it was only four pages long!  I finally finalized my list this past Saturday... thank god, no more harrassing phone calls (just kidding mom)!!!  Still to this day my mom makes sure all three of us have the exact same number of packages to open... I try and explain to her that we are all older and quantity does not matter, but she insists that Adriane still counts packages!  More than anything I am just excited to spend time with family and friends!  I hope you all find time to take a minute and remember the true meaning of Christmas, as well as spend time with family and friends!

Merry Christmas!!!
